Meet Master Trainer DJ Laperle

With 15 years of boxing experience, DJ Laperle has become a leader in the Canadian boxing community and an authority on box-fit programming.

For the past 10 years, DJ has coached competitive boxers and has himself trained with some of the best boxing and fitness instructors. He has maintained a competitive edge by spending time in many different boxing gyms and fitness studios.

Throughout the years DJ has developed a variety of effective training methods that focus on building lean muscle mass, improving cardiovascular abilities and maximizing calorie burn. Applying these methods to the authentic box-fit classes he has taught for the past 8 years has not only delivered results for his clients, it has earned him a loyal following. Innovative training techniques continue to drive DJ’s success in the business.

With a commitment to being the ‘real deal’ in boxing meets fitness, he has developed a unique program for Studio KO that teaches real technical boxing, with precise conditioning methods used by professional athletes.

Your last chance of the day to burn, burn, burn! Box-fit Black-Out will be an end of the day burn in a blue light room where you will glow in the dark and glisten with sweat! Think traditional KO Boxfit but with more off the bag intensity intervals for that extra calorie torch. We expect to leave you lying on the floor unable to give anything more!

Our signature 45 min interval cardiovascular training, with boxing inspired conditioning will give you the full body workout you are looking for! Using free weights, resistance bands, body bars, medicine balls and other equipment, Boxfit Bootcamp will give you a peek into one of the most important sides of what it takes to be a boxer- unparalleled fitness. *All levels welcomed *Wraps and gloves NOT required.

Box‑Fit

Designed for all levels. A thorough breakdown of boxing moves and combinations is provided. Both beginner and advanced combinations are provided to suit a wide-range of experience. There is a strong focus on continuous punching and speed rounds for intense cardio burn-out. Conditioning exercises are designed to challenge all fitness levels and deliver incredible results; a tight, toned, strong boxer physique.

FAQ

NEW TO K-O? Here’s everything you need to know before your first class:

  • What is Authentic Box‑Fit?

    More than just a fitness class- our box-fit classes teaches you the ACTUAL techniques used by professional boxers. This includes both punching combinations AND the high intensity cardio training needed to maintain a boxers physique. You will find that our use of different types of boxing bags, boxing bobs, speed bags, etc… will differentiate us from your mainstream bootcamp classes.
  • When to arrive?

    You should arrive 15-20 minutes before your FIRST class. You should arrive 10-15 minutes before each class thereafter. If you will be wearing hand-wraps, it takes time to wrap. Your hands must be wrapped and equipment on prior to the start of class time.
  • What to wear?

    You will need to wear running shoes and comfortable workout clothes. We will not permit anyone into the boxing studio with WET shoes.
  • Do I need boxing gloves?

    Yes – this is Authentic Box-Fit! You will be throwing jabs and uppercuts like the pros! Gloves and hand wraps will be provided to you on your FIRST class ONLY. (you will be taught how to wrap your hands). After your first class we strongly encourage you to purchase your own wraps and gloves.
  • Are wraps and gloves available for rent?

    We do have wraps and gloves for rent for $5+hst. However, it is strongly recommended that you purchase your own wraps after your first class. This is for sanitary reasons. While we make every effort to ensure that our equipment is clean, we cannot guarantee they will be odour free. Furthermore, purchasing your own gloves is also strongly encouraged as there is little we can do to fully clean the inside of our rental gloves after each use. If you purchase gloves, wraps are recommended (extra protection of the wrists and knuckles) but not required.
  • What to expect?

    A 50 minute class designed to teach you authentic boxing skills and challenge you with high intensity exercises.The first 10 minutes will include a 5 minute warm up and a 5 minute demonstration of the workout (i.e key punch combos and exercises). It is very important that you are in class and ready on time as the instructor will NOT be re-explaining the workout to any late persons.
  • What if I’m late?

    If you arrive late and are not in the room prior to the end of the warmup and workout explanation (10 minutes) you will NOT be permitted to enter the room and will be late cancelled. This is to protect the integrity and flow of the workout and to not disrupt the experience for those who have shown up on-time.If you are late, you must not enter the room without your hands wrapped and/or gloves on. Once the workout explanation has started, the instructor will NOT be able to assist you in wrapping your hands.
  • What if I’m waitlisted?

    If you are on the waitlist for the class you should be ready to go as if you were signed up for the class. If, at the 10 minute mark, one of the signed up class participants has not shown up, you can join the class. If you wish to listen in on the explanation of the workout (in case you are added to the class), you may, as long as the instructor is aware.
